On December 16, 2013, 300+ students at Yerba Buena High School in San Jose, CA decided to defy dress code and fight the rules that had been set upon them. Kept in a school by 13 ft fence, 30 cameras around the school, & 3 or more officers on school at all time. The protest was led by student advisor Ms.Dinh, and later at lunch led by the help of William Gonzalez. Students began to chant for their rights as an email by the principle himself was sent out saying the students were violating their privileges. But the students were not violating any “Privileges” they were natural born rights given to them to speak and protest. During the hours of 9:00 & 11:00 AM a teacher decided to take his whole class to protest, he began reading the students rights to the advisors keeping the students out of dress code in the library. The teacher was forced out and warned that his job could be terminated and was told to leave campus for supporting the students. An e-mail was sent out once again stating that any teacher supporting the protest would suffer any possible consequences. The protest continue with the principle stated that the parents chose to have this done to us. Papers were printed after school and will be given out to students who are willing to have their parents sign against the dress code in favor of the students protest. If they want the parent vote they will receive it.
